Reading & Leeds’ most promising bands might be playing from your car…
This year some of the most promising talent playing at Reading and Leeds Festivals could be performing from, well, er… potentially your car!
The initiative is connecting bands signed up to the BBC Introducing stage with festival-goers on the goCarShare scheme, allowing them an exclusive en route live performance as part of ‘The goCarShare Sessions.’
Those involved include rising singer songwriting star Rachel Sermanni, from a lovely place in the Highlands called Carrbridge. She is set to wow with her stunning vocals and will be performing highlights from her debut album, ‘Under The Mountains’ which is out on the 14th September.
Northern rockers Likely Lads are a four-piece rock band from the city of York. Formed in late 2010 the band has taken great strides towards becoming the most promising outfit to emerge from northern England in sometime. They will be bringing their Johnny Marr style guitar and insightful Alex Turner-esque lyrics to their goCarShare journey.
Rounding things off will be Park Bench Society, three young lads from Loughborough who specialise in charming acoustic indie music full of ear-catching percussion. The band have admitted they have a soft spot for ska and that's noticeable in singer Murray's soft playful vocals and a haunting trumpet signature. Make sure you listen more than once - you'll hear something new each time.
The ‘goCarShare Sessions’ chronicle bands sharing rides to festivals, with interviews, impromptu shenanigans and cut down performances en route, all filmed and wrapped into a beautifully shot video diary, available to download from www.gocarshare.com
Past sessions include New York ‘pop-cock rock’ outfit Mother Feather heading to Nova Festival and experimental pop outfit - Laurel Collective heading to Secret Garden Party.
Since launch goCarShare has grown the community to over 12,000 members, established partnerships with more than 100 festivals, and this month celebrates passing 1 million miles of journeys being added to the site.
goCarShare festival-goers can ensure that they park at the ‘Priority goCarShare Car Park’ at the front, and that they get a chance to win tickets for Leeds and Reading 2013 by adding a journey on goCarShare.
