Small Morris

Hi, how are you?
I’m fine, how you all doing?

What made you decide to be a solo artist and not want to be in a band?
I started writing music on my own and was really never interested in being in a band and find it fun and challenging being on my own but I’m also in a crew called D.R CLICK

How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t yet heard you?
I do hip-hop/r&b music and mix it up a bit. But I like writing and recording to a lot of different types of music as long as I like it or the sound of it i go for it.

What music did you listen to while growing up?
I mostly grew up listening to hip-hop, pop and reggae.

Which artist or track inspired you to want to make music yourself?
I started writing music from a young age but as I was living in Zimbabwe never thought it would happen till I came to England. I’m mostly inspired by my family but artists wise I think who ever made it from nothing to something is an inspiration as you can say if they did it I can to just have to work hard.

When was the ‘I want to do that!’ moment?
I remember recording my 1st ever song mirror @ his graveside and I realised how much I loved making music and being in the studio and after I performed my 1st ever gig i knew this is what I will always want to do and just had to chase my dream.

What was the last music you put on your ipod or mp3 player?
Last song I’ve just listened to on mp3 was Wiz Khalifa- Black and Yellow

What have you been up to recently?
i have been in the studio working on my album called  THE BEGINNING and been recording tracks with my crew D.R CLICK and planning on video shoots for the crews singles and my follow up single.

What can your fans look forward to in the next 12 months?
Fans can expect a lot of new music from me, few videos and singles and hopefully an album later in the year and also my crew songs as well. So it’s a busy year so far working on 2albums and projects. Will also be planning shows to promote the album and singles soon.

How much involvement do you have with the arranging and production of the songs when recording?
With all my tracks I’m there from beat making to when the track is released so I’m involved all the way and i write my own staff so always try and make my songs fun and catchy. I also help out with planning of the videos, photo shoot, so I’m really involved with it all the way.

Is the production side of things something you’d like to get involved more in the future, maybe working with other artists?
Yes, definitely would love to work with a lot of artists in the future. Have worked with a few on my album but mostly up and coming artists and hopefully in the future will work with established artists as well.

Do you find the process of recording enjoyable and does it get easier the more you do?
I find the process of recording and making the track really enjoyable and fun, the writing, and when my producers make the beats to recording.

Do you have any new recordings planned?
I’m in the studio recording a lot of tracks for the album and recording with my crew so you will get to hear a lot of Small Morris and D.R. Click this year hopefully.

Do you have a method for writing songs?
It all depends on the track, sometimes I start with the chorus and sometimes with a verse so depends what or how I’m feeling at that present moment as I write to a beat. So we make the beat first and go from there.

Do you find song writing easy or difficult?
As soon as I get a beat I usually think what to write about to it and from there i find it really easy to write.

Would you sign with a major record company?
Yes definitely would love to sign to a major label if the opportunity arise.

Is there anyone who you would like to collaborate with on writing songs or performing?
Well, there’s a lot of people I would like to collaborate with. A lot of U.K established artists like Wiley, Tinie Tempah, Skepta etc.

Which countries would be at the top of your list to tour?
I want to tour in England first and get established here before touring and going anywhere else. If everything goes well and the album do well I wouldn’t mind going everywhere around the world to perform, Japan, Australia, Germany, America etc

Who would you like to tour with?
I would like to tour with a lot of artists too many to mention but many U.K and U.S established artists a like and would like to perform with.

How do you promote your music and get your music out to new fans?
My Label and promo company get the music out to Radio, T.V and Press for the fans to hear and buy it.

What’s your best/worst experience at a gig?
Best was performing in front of a sold out show and getting the whole crowd behind me and I have had a few since then. Worst was forgetting my lyrics but luckily not many people knew my song so got to freestyle but I think some people noticed. I’m always scared of falling because sometimes I get carried away and run around on stage and always think I’m going to trip over something.

Do you get nervous before a gig? How do you calm down?
I usually get nervous just before I go on stage when I start hearing the fans and the music. I usually just run and once I’m on stage I’m ok. I usually calm down by

Is there anything you’d like to add?
My new single FEELING ME is out now on I-TUNES and a lot of download sites.
