We currently have two albums an EP called “She” that can be found in I Tunes and a LP called DIY that can be purchased only at our shows.
Hi, how are you?
I’m doing well! How are you?
Would you mind introducing us to your band members?
My name is Eber C Pitrelli, and I am the Lead Singer and guitarist of the band. Then we have Manuel Conti on Drums and Joaquin Tulian on guitar and vocals
How long has the current band line up been together?
The current line up is kind of new we have been together for about two months. That is due to the fact that our ex-bass player Marc and guitarist Elio left the band for personal reasons.
How did you meet each other?
I met Manuel through Marc and Joaquin through Manuel.
How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t yet heard you?
mmm... I would have to say energetic atl/rock that is the first thing that comes to mind.
But definitely not limited to it.
How did you come up with the band name?
I tell you the story: the number 11 has chased me around all my life, I see it everywhere, when I look at the time, plain tickets, train tickets, car plates you name it. One night I was in my little home studio recording some demos. It was really late at night and I was really tired, but I wanted to finish what I was doing, anyways I needed to export the file to be able to hear the final mix and to be able to do that you need to name the file, so I just hit the keyboard like whatever just to put a name to the file and guess what the name was.... yeah that’s right EB11, the minute I saw this I felt it was right so I decided to call my music project EB11. Some people think that the name of the band comes from my name Eber, and I guess that’s right too but it was not my intention to name the band after me.
What music did you listen to while growing up?
I listened to a lot of rock bands Kiss, AC/DC, Metallica, Sepultura, Pantera, Dream Theater, Guns n Roses etc...
Which artist or track inspired you to want to make music yourself?
My favourite band at the moment is Incubus, but I get Inspired by a lot of other bands, not only because of their music but because their attitude, and production
When was the ‘I want to do that!’ moment?
I was 5 years old and my dad had a friend that worked in radio, so this guy gave my dad a Kiss concert on VHS.
I remember clearly my dad put the video on and when I saw them playing and spitting blood, I was like WOW that’s what I want to do when I grow up.
What was the last music you put on your iPod or mp3 player?
A mix of Incubus, Breaking Benjamin, Cold Play, Foo Fighters and other bands that I can’t remember right now.
What have you been up to recently?
We have been rehearsing a lot and preparing for our tour, auditioning bass players, working on promo and basically try to put things together for the summer
What can your fans look forward to in the next 12 months?
Well like I said we will be on tour around the east coast of the US, and then we will try to get some dates around Europe too, we are also considering the possibility of releasing the DIY album on I Tunes after the tour, and hopefully start recording our new album.
What is your current equipment?
I mainly use a PRS SE guitar it is a cheap guitar but man.... I just love the way it feels and the way it sounds, the for amplification and FX I use Line 6 a Spider 4 also cheap amp but to me it sounds great, I get the sound that I want out of it. I also have a Gibson Les Paul which I use mainly for recording and for some songs live, songs that require that kind of sound.
Do you have a favourite piece of musical kit that you couldn’t live without?
Not really although I have to say that I feel uncomfortable when I don’t play with my PRS.
If you had an unlimited equipment budget what would be on your shopping list?
I really don’t know, I am pretty happy with the sound I get from the equipment I have, but, I am a guitar lover so I guess I’d buy a whole bunch of different amps and guitars just try them out and mix them together while recording.
Do you use the same equipment live as you do when in a studio?
Yeah pretty much the same heheheh.. We are a budget band hahahah...
Do you try to capture your ‘live’ sound on recordings or do you think that the ‘live’ sound and recorded sound should be different experiences for your fans?
No, not really, when you record you can try so many things that can make the song sound much better and powerful, some might say is studio tricks but, I think that when you buy an album you listen to it like a thousand times, and I think that is so cool that for every time you listen to it you discover something new something you didn’t hear the first time because didn’t you pay too much attention to details. So that makes the album interesting in my opinion. But when playing live it is a different thing you don’t have time to analyze too much, instead you live the moment. So when recording I try to concentrate in a good production and arrangements and when playing live is more adapting what we have done in the studio in a way that we can deliver a lot of energy and the main Idea of the song.
How much involvement do you have with the arranging and production of the songs when recording?
120 % I’d like to be involved in the entire process from pre-production to the final product.
Is the production side of things something you’d like to get involved more in the future, maybe working with other artists?
I love the production side of this business; I think it is very interesting and as creative as the song writing. I am not so sure that I’d like to produce other bands but I can’t say that I won’t do it either.
Do you find the process of recording enjoyable and does it get easier the more you do?
The process of recording is really cool and I like it a lot. It does get easier the more you do it. But you have to be careful on how much time you spend on it at once, it can make you really tired and frustrated, so it is good to take breaks some sometimes longer breaks, like two or three days, to get your perspective back.
Do you have any new recordings planned?
Yeah! Like I said before hopefully by the end of the year we will start the recording of the new album, maybe sooner....
Which are your favourite original tracks?
You know that changes from time to time, but right now I would have to say that my favourite is “Enjoy the Ride”
Who are your favourite songwriters?
I have many John Mayer, is one of them, Benjamin Burnley, Brandon Boyd, David Gilmour, Roger Waters etc...
Who are the main songwriters for the band?
I have been the creative force behind the band until now; I think and hope that for our next record everybody will contribute with something. I think it might get really interesting.
Do you have a set routine when writing and recording or does it depend on each track and the inspiration?
Most of the songs I have written start with me just jamming by myself with an acoustic guitar, sometimes with an electric guitar, sometimes with a keyboard or a bass, so no I don’t think there is a specific way for me to write songs at least not one specific way. As for recording songs it does depends on the song and the type of feel I want the song to have, but I guess that could also fall into the production category.
Do you have a method for writing songs?
Usually music first, every now and then a get a little poetic and write stuff on a piece of paper and later on those notes can become lyrics.
Is there anyone who you would like to collaborate with on writing songs or performing?
Ohh yes producer Mutt Lange, Don Gilmore or Howard Benson among others
Do you find song writing easy or difficult?
Yes and no, trying to write a song when you are not inspired can be the most difficult thing to do, nothing you come up with is good enough, but when you are inspired it is effortless it comes as natural as talking.
Would you sign with a major record company?
I am going to have to say yes to this, even though there are a lot of discussion about how good is to be independent these days. I think that once you are signed to a major record label you get access to all kinds of promo tools and people in the business that can defiantly help forward your career a lot faster.
Which countries have you gigged in?
So far only in Spain
Which countries would be at the top of your list to tour?
US, Japan, England, China we like big crowds hehe...
Who would you like to tour with?
Incubus, Metallica, Nickelback just to not extend the list
How do you promote your music and get your music out to new fans?
Mainly the internet, this is a really powerful tool when it comes down to promoting.
Which music promotion websites do you use and do you have a favourite?
Sonicbids, Music Submit, and Jango those are really effective in my opinion.
Do you think such sites and the internet are good tools for independent and unsigned artists?
With such a variety of similar websites that exist now for independent artist to promote music, is there something missing from them that you would like to see?
I haven’t really thought about that, I think that everything is changing everyday like how My Space was the best thing and then Facebook came a long and simply knocked out, I guess it is
important to keep yourself updated with all these things
What is your opinion on ‘battle of the bands’ competitions?
I like the idea of a whole bunch bands getting together in a venue and performing, you know giving their best, but at the same time I think is kind of silly to make an art competition.
Art for me is a way of expression and you can’t really compete with that, after all everybody has a different way of experiencing things and therefore and different way of expressing themselves. So I am up for the exposure it generates but not entirely agree with the competition side of it.
What’s your best/worst experience at a gig?
The worst thing that happened to me was that I went backstage to change my guitar and it was really dark, so I missed a step and hit myself with the guitar in the face, it was a big cut and I was bleeding like hell, but I still went on with the show. I completely lost my confidence for the rest of the show. And the best was when we opened for the band Big Noize that was really cool we had our dressing room with beer, food, snacks, toilet we had a great sound and the place was crowed.
Do you get nervous before a gig? How do you calm down?
Yeah most of the time, I calm myself down by having a couple of beers before I start
Has your music been used on any film soundtracks?
Yeah, it has been used in many MTV shows and A&E shows, also in a video game called Motor M4X.
Is composing for film or tv something you’d like to get involved in if the opportunity came along?
Yeah probably although I have to say that I enjoy writing as a way of expression I have never really done it as a job, but it might cool to try.
Is there anything you’d like to add?
Yes, to everybody reading this add us in our Facebook page, and if you are in the East Coast or in Manchester or London in the U.K be in the look out for us because we might be coming to a venue near you.
